Anton ReijndersFor more then 37 years Anton Reijnders has been active as a sculptor. Besides sculptures Reijnders makes installations and site specific works, combining different materials, like wood, textile or found materials with ceramics. Through his work Reijnders wants to offer opportunities for reflection and concentration. He hopes his works evokes awareness of the automatism in which we attribute meaning and our conditioned way of looking.
Anton Reijnders has worked as artistic advisor at the 'Keramisch Werkcentrum' in Heusden, the Netherlands and contributed to the creation of what in 1991 was to become the European Ceramic Work Center (EKWC) in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. As Head of Studios and Workshops he was involved in dialogue with artists from all over the world. He was the driving force behind setting up the material research programme and is author of the book 'The Ceramic Process' jointly with the EKWC published by A&C Black in London, and Pennsylvania Press in the USA. Besides having taken part in exhibitions throughout the world Anton Reijnders has contributed to conferences, symposia and workshops in Korea, China, Australia, USA and throughout Europe. He has been three times visiting professor at the New York College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Alfred, USA. Currently he is teaching at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in , Amsterdam, the Netherlands. |
