Soojin Choi Thesis Exhibition

​This Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. is the opening of the very last Ceramic Art graduate thesis exhibition this year! Soojin Choi’s Pink Winter from a Distance will be up until the 14th of May at the Fosdick Nelson Gallery. Get ready to see Soojin’s installations combining various media such as woodworking, painting, textile printing, and large scale ceramics. The exhibition will also be open during Alfred Art Walk this Saturday along with the BFA senior shows.

BFA Exhibitions

Please join us for the opening of the annual BFA Thesis Exhibitions, which showcase work by candidates for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Art and Design at the New York State College of Ceramics, Alfred University (AU). The exhibition will open at 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 5th.

Each graduating senior will open their exhibition in sites throughout campus: the McGee Pavilion, Harder Hall, Binns-Merrill Hall and the Cohen Studios (located at 55 N. Main St., Alfred). Maps showing the location of the exhibitions will be available in Harder Hall.

The BFA Thesis Exhibitions, a requirement for graduation from the School of Art and Design, have become a major attraction for art lovers, who are drawn to Alfred for the opportunity to see and purchase work by some of the country’s most promising young artists. Work on display represents a diverse number of mediums and genres, including ceramics, painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, video, sonic arts, interactive media, graphic design, and drawing.

Brian Westrick Thesis Exhibition

For his thesis show this weekend, Ceramic Art Graduate Student Brian Westrick will present wheel-thrown vessels that explore the relationships between domestic spaces and the expanses of Ground. Brian will also be exhibiting with Marina Friedman from the Sculpture & Dimensional Studies Division. Join us for a gallery talk with Brian on Monday, April 30th at 11:30 a.m. and with Marina at 4:30 p.m.

Liisa Nelson Thesis Exhibition

The first photo on this series is a portrait of Liisa Nelson from a couple of weeks ago. At the time, she was starting to work out one of her larger pieces for her thesis show. Liisa’s exhibition, entitled Regular Unnamables, will be full of her characteristically busy textures, rich surfaces and intricate forms. Join us at the Robert C. Turner Gallery on Saturday from 7:00 -9:00 p.m for the opening, and Monday the 23rd at 11:30 a.m. for a gallery talk.

Grant Landreth Thesis Exhibition

Ceramic Art graduate student Grant Landreth has been sowing together heavy fabric to construct sculptural works and the results are fantastic, we are looking forward seeing the finished pieces installed in a gallery setting this weekend. Grant’s thesis show, Modénature will open this Saturday, April 21, from 7-9 p.m. at the Fosdick-Nelson Gallery. His gallery talk will be on Tuesday, April 24th at 12:00 p.m. Liisa Nelson will also hold a reception for her thesis exhibition that night at the adjoining Robert C. Turner Gallery, more information coming up.

Cory MahonEy Thesis exibition
